Cold Brew

Cold Brew

Cold brew is celebrated for its silky-smooth texture, chocolatey notes, and remarkably low acidity. Unlike hot coffee, cold brew relies on time rather than heat to gently extract flavor, resulting in a naturally sweet concentrate that stays fresh in your fridge for up to two weeks.

Here is our step-by-step guide to brewing smooth cold brew at home.

What You’ll Need

  • Large Glass Jar or Pitcher

  • Freshly Roasted Coffee Beans: 80g (Extra Coarse grind, like sea salt)

  • Cold / Room Temperature Water: 800ml (1:10 ratio)

  • Fine Mesh Strainer or Cheesecloth / Paper Filter

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Grind & Prep

Grind your beans to an extra coarse setting. Coarse grounds ensure slow, balanced extraction without bringing out bitter compounds, and they are easy to filter out later.

2. Combine Coffee & Water

Add 80g of ground coffee into your jar. Pour 800ml of cold or room-temperature filtered water slowly over the grounds.

3. Stir & Submerge

Gently stir the mixture with a spoon to ensure every ground is completely saturated. Cover the jar loosely with a lid or cloth.

4. Steep for 12 to 16 Hours

Let the pitcher steep on your counter at room temperature or in the refrigerator for 12 to 16 hours. Steeping longer than 18 hours can introduce muddy, woody flavors.

5. Strain & Chill

Pour the brew through a fine mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth or a paper filter into a clean pitcher. Do not squeeze the filter. Transfer your cold brew concentrate to the fridge to chill.

Pro Tips for the Best Cup

  • How to Serve: Dilute the concentrate with water, milk, or ice at a 1:1 ratio depending on your preferred strength.

  • Batching: Cold brew keeps well sealed in the fridge for up to 10–14 days, making it ideal for meal prep!
